Hey All-

Just bought a used 15' Armada Platinum Reserve. Looking forward to gaining insight from all of you. Thanks for having me!

Just bought from used car dealer. At night I noticed instrument panel lighting not illuminating when dusk. Speedometer & cluster gauge lights up, but climate control lighting, steering wheel control lights etc. will not light up. The small dial on lower left corner of speedometer dims & brightens the speedometer etc, but does nothing to the instrument illumination. Wondering if this has anything to do with possible changeout of cluster gauge to reflect miles & not kilometers since it was manufactured in Canada? Any help here?

Hi all.

Been lurking on this forum for a couple days now.
Looking to buy a used QX56 (or Armada).
The previous gen is in my affordability window.

Currently own an XTerra (which I also love) and an Altima. In the past mostly owned 350Zs and G35s and Q45s (yes, plural for those 3 models) and other Nissan/Infinitis.

So... you guys can see I am pretty new to this truck thing and the Xterra is my first truck...

I been looking for which model years to avoid did some searches but have not found the key posts.
Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks!!!

:)

Curved LED Light Bar Below Bumper

I've seen some pics of 20-22" straight LED light bars mounted below the bumper in that lower grill area. Has anyone mounted a curved bar in that location? Just curious to see what that looks like becuase that area on my 2012 in indeed curved and I'm thinking it might be a nice fit. Auxbeam has a 21.5 X-series curved that looks pretty cool and it has built in DRL's.

Undecided on what bulbs to use for the fog lights. Wanted something in 3K. HID's or LED's...went with a vinyl cover for the moment.

Hello to all!!!

Greetings fellow Nissan and Infiniti friends. I've had a Datsun/Nissan/Infiniti vehicle almost all my life dating back to my first car a 1981 Datsun 210 - LOL. We currently have a 2006 Infiniti QX56 which I am working on a problem familiar to many of you. The woodpecker noise under the driver side dash. I know it is the AC actuator and I have already ordered and received the replacement part. I'm just having the worst time getting access to remove the old one so I can put the new one in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Today while I was driving suddenly the BCI malfunction light came ON. I had to turn the engine off and fire it up again to make it go away. Anyone have this come up? Not sure why it popped up. Backup camera and sonar is functional.

CPO '13 platinum 4X4 armada

Hello all,

Well I am a little late on this. I have had this armada for about a year now. Not new to the Nissan product, have owned many other Nissan's including an '05 Titan (which just recently got traded in on a new '16 platinum Maxima), previously owned an '09 Armada SE, and many other Nissan's. Just thought I would drop in and say hello since I finally was able to get time to register under a new user name since I bought the new armada.
Wasn't looking for a 4X4, just a platinum, but this unit came with the 4X4. I have to say I didn't think I would ever have a need for it, but it has come in handy on multiple occasions. Love the armada, had traded out of the '09 into a '13 Nissan Quest LE, wife really missed the ride height and tank feel of the armada, so had to go back and get another one.

Any brush guards compatible w/front parking sensors?

OK, so I had a titan in the past with a full frontal brush guard, but it did not have the front parking sensors. My '13 armada does have the front parking sensors, was wanting to know if there are any full frontal brush guards that can be mounted to the rig without interfering with the functionality of the front parking proximity sensors. If not, then I guess I will have to go with a bull guard.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cold Air Intake and furthermore.

I went ahead and ordered my new Injen Cold Air Intake from Stillen. It was delivered within 3-4 days.
The 2011 motor has about 90k miles on it now and I bought it used not too long ago. So, I went ahead and changed the spark plugs and the serpentine belt. I went with original NGK spark plugs and Continental belt.

The intake has made quite a noticeable gain in the powerband after 2500 RPM. Some low end torque increase is noticed as well. I do not work for any of the sponsors or website, so this is a pretty honest review about those on the fence about a CAI.

It is pretty cold outside and my garage is not big enough for this DIY therefore I paid a mechanic shop $120 including tip for all the 3 items which I personally do not think is too bad. A higher end performance shop quoted me about $350 for labor which is expected. It took about 2 hrs and some change.

Next few items to be installed are: Bilstein HD front shocks, Stillen sway bar, replace bushing & links. Hopefully, this will calm down my mod bug™.

In the attached photos check the spark plug image it does not look so healthy at this mileage point so be sure to check yours as well. I am going to assume previous owner used reg motor oil and gas. Please feel free to provide any suggestions of parts/areas to check and/or replace around this mileage mark.

Edit: The engine cover was properly mounted afterwards we were just testing after the initial cut.

Greetings, long time lurker first time poster.

A little about me. Just traded in my 04 Armada on a 15.

The 04 was starting to show its age and needed a lot of TLC. It was in nice shape though.

I drove over 100 miles to trade it in and was worried about it having problems along the way.

Thankfully I made it.

Aftermarket Armada Cross bars

Have any of you guys found a good replacement for the OEM crossbars?

I put a roof box on my rig recently and to my surprise and disappointment, the box began oscillating terribly when I got to 50mph. The damn thing was pounding the roof of the rig!

I had to strap the front and back ends down to the rails that run front to back, but it was a hassle because the straps want to vibrate. I twisted the hell out of them to stop that, but it took three adjustments on my road trip before they were quiet.

The straps are a hassle, look like crap and make it impossible to get in the box without removing them.

Anyone else have issues with this?

Anyone already do the research and have a good replacement?

I have a 2010 Platinum Armada with 20" wheels.

I found a set of 2005ish Titan 18" Rims - before I actually buy them will they fit over the calipers etc?

I'm looking to use these 18s for a set of winter tires.

Thanks
Steve M

Headbulb 9005/9006 - 9011/9012, better lighting

So, I wanted more light on the road from the headlights on my 2013 Armada SV. I did not want to cause the glare that is common in HID installs. I also did not want to overdrive my system from over wattage bulbs. I ha read in the pas about installing 9011/9012 HIR bulbs in place of 9005/9006 bulbs. I purchased Wagner 9011/9012 bulbs from Rockauto. I used toenail clippers to trim the tabs. I do own a dremel and could have used that, but wanted to see if it could be done with common household items. This is probably just as illegal as HID, but is not as obvious as from outside. I f you are looking for blue/purple headlight, look elsewhere. However, if you want more light on the road, without glare, and a good price, this might be for you. This cost me a total of around $50 for the bulbs and around $3 for the now broken toenail clippers. 9005 bulbs are 65w, 9011 are 65w. 9006 bulbs are 55w, 9012 bulbs are 55w.

DIY for trimming tabs:

Low/9006 before

High/9005 before

Low/9012 after

High/9011 after

Full disclosure, the bulbs that are what came with the car. However, the car isn't driven that much at night, so should have been pretty close to full strength. Also, the Wagner bulbs are badged Philips on the bottom.
