2012 Mada in Berks County PA

Hello fellow Armada owners, glad to be a part of the club! After extensive research (my Achilles heel) we settled on a 2012 Armada with 72K on the dial. Probably won't be doing a whole lotta mods to it, maybe a CAI and/or tuner of some sort. Would like to get better fuel mileage out of it, but I knew it was gonna be a hog, so... I see there are really no good ways to accomplish better results, judging by what I've already read here, so I'll just be waiting to hear more on this or any other topic!

Haven't been here in a while, but today I changed the rotors and pads on my wife's Armada. And I noticed something strange. The passenger side brake line is rubbing the CV boot for the axle and wearing out. This apparently happened before, I posted a while ago about the line bursting and appearing worn down to the steel braiding before bursting. This is EXTREMELY dangerous (obviously).
Here is what I noticed:
On the driver's side caliper the brake line enters the side of the caliper body which positions the brake line well clear of the CV boot by about 3 inches.
On the passengers side (the one with the problem) the brake line enters the caliper body on the bottom of the caliper body, which puts it millimeters from the CV boot. When the wheel turns it actually touches the CV boot. Clearly, since we have a 4x4 Armada we have axles in the front.
The questions are: Do I have the correct caliper for our truck? If not, will a replacement come with the line in the same position? Why would they have the brake like coming in in a different position for each side? I don't mind buying a new caliper if it will fix the problem, but I need to know if the line position is correct or not. Otherwise this issue will happen again.
The only thing I can think of is that the caliper was previously replaced with a caliper designed for a 2wd Armada, which would not have axles in the front. However, in searching for new calipers, there is no separate part # for 4wd Armadas.

Help please!!!!

Purchased a 2013 Armada in mid January and absolutely love it. I stepped up from a Pathfinder S model into an Armada Sl and I'm enjoing many more bells and whistles, as well as the luxurious space. Happy to be here and I want to share some stereo ideas/mods. etc so that it may be of some help to others like me a month ago.:)

Aftermarket system w/bose

I searched this forum and many others trying to figure out how to keep my factory bose headunit while running a 4 channel and a mono amp. The premium bose was not premium at all to my ears; so, I added a sub and amp. That helped, but the mids and highs were still lack luster. I asked local car audio shops and none could tell me how to do it while keeping my factory HU, but they wanted to sell me the the $300 face plate and a $200 deck. After researching the bose system, I discovered how the amp crossovers all the speakers etc; so, finding a full range signal to send to my 4 channel amp was a problem. I couldn't find any info on the wiring coming from the HU, so I decided to turn the radio on and then start unplugging the 4 or 5 socket plugs from the back of the HU. Bingo, a little 6 wire plug on the left hand side cut the audio when i unplugged it. I proceeded to cut a wire and the left front went out, so I knew that was my left signal. The rest was trial and error, but i figured out the right channel, as well as the polarity. So, this is where I put the Hi/lo converter which I ran to a 1/2 din eq I mounted in my armrest. From the eq i hit the 4 channel amp under my seat (took out the pathetic bose sub) and then my mono amp. After all of this madness I was able to keep my balance, fader (thru the eq) and factory HU and all of it's controls etc. Hope this helps. Peace

Banks ram-air intake system, 41820, 5.6l, mint condition $225

I'm looking to sell my banks ram-air intake system which was briefly installed on my qx56. Not exactly sure how many miles it was actually used for but i would easily say less than 1000. It was just purchased the middle of last year although it took me awhile before finding the time home to install. I will say that after installing a volant on my previous armada this cold-air intake is much easier and takes no time at all to install. It does come with original box, manuals, decals, etc. Everything included in the original sale from banks. I will have it listed on ebay possibly sometime this morning and i will post about 10 good photos along with this thread. I am looking to get $225 altogether as shipping will not be very cheap as well as possible ebay/paypal commissions.if you are interested in the system please message me and we can go from there. I would like to have it sold prior to sunday 04/17/2016.
Thank you for your interest and have a great day!

Auto Dim Mirrors

My 2013 Platinum has auto dimming rear view mirrors and when I purchased it the previous owner had installed a pretty dark tint on the rear windows. Due to the tine the mirrors don't really do much dimming when there are headlight behind me. Is there a way to adjust the dimming sensitivity or do you know of anything I can do to help dime the mirrors a little more? I don't really want to remove the window tint from the back window.

Attempting to expand rear shock options

$

For those that have been on here a while, you know our woes with rear shock selections, or lack of them. Well a small group of us has managed to convince a parts store to talk with ICON suspension/shock people about building a true bolt-on shock for us. Details are still being worked out, but we did clearly state what we were wanting:

1. bolt-on rear shock - no modding required
2. properly dampened/valved
3. application options (lifted applications, lowered applications, oem applications, coil-over option....)

When/as updates come through - i'll attempt to keep this thread updated.

Hi, I've been looking at a (very!) high mileage Armada and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to take the plunge. I'm about 80% sure it will be mine by the weekend. I'm pricing the parts now so I have a quick question-how do I know if it has the big tow package or not?

how to ID heavy tow package on newer Armadas

$

I know on the early armada's you could ID the heavy tow package by the trans temp gauge, the big split mirrors, etc. then around '06 or '07 they changed the dash and all trucks got the trans temp gauge and I have not seen any with the split mirrors. UGH.

so I'm shopping. are there any ways to spot the heavy tow package from pictures? I know if I can see the B pillar, I can look for Axle code RD33 for the 3.337 rear as opposed to code RD29 for the 2.97 but when surfing auto trader, hard to see the sticker.

Are there any other ways to verify the heavy tow package?

I have a new 2015 lease and was thinking about tinting the front windows to match the back. I don't want to spend a ton and may have to remove it before turning it back in. Does anyone know the factory tint level? How hard is it to do the front windows?

Thanks.

I thought it would be simple to replace the existing horns with "Hella" horns. Boy was I wrong. There is a special adapter on it. Has anyone done the horn mod?
