Hi there, we just traded in our altima for this 2011 platinum edition 2wd. Never owned anything larger than an Xterra, this is big and nice!

Also have a 2008 G35 Sedan 6MT (HR motor) that I've modified a bit with ark test pipes, uprev tune, stillen g3 intake, hotchkis sways, bc coils, slotted and drilled rotors, SS brake lines, fast intentions exhaust, led interior lights, gtr push button, strut tower bar.

Look forward to see what goodies I can put on this VK56! The first thing that really bothers me is no HID lights, and bummer to see titan one's don't exactly fit any more. I recall the Uprev guys telling me the they've gotten good power out of a stock VK56 with just a tune. We'll see!

Here are some pics attached.

Buyer's Guide?

Hey guys,
I'm brand new to the forum and this is my first post.

I do not own a Nissan Armada yet, but I'm considering to buy a used one.

Is there any buyer's guide in this forum?

In general....
I would like to know what to watch out for.
Service maintenance informations.
Trim information.
Common problems

I'm looking for a Armada with less than ~120k miles.
My primary use for the vehicle will be towing and family vacation.
I'm planning on towing a car hauler and vehicle that weighs ~4500lbs
I would most likely put about 5000 miles/year or less since this won't be my primary vehicle.

I'm a hobby mechanic and not afraid to get my hands dirty.

Thanks for reading and please guide me to the right way!

Synthetic Transmission Fluid

Hello: Has anyone who tows and has switched to synthetic ATF notice a difference with the Transmission fluid temperature? I am currently using the dealer recommended fluid and mine normally stays at 3/4 way up when towing especially on any kind of incline. On a flat highway it stays around 1/2 way and when not towing it's around 1/4. Wondering if making the switch to synthetic may improve the towing temperatures? I am not ready at this time to upgrade to a larger capacity pan. Thanks in advance for any comments. Gary

The 14 Most Revolutionary Cars That Changed the World

Quote:

One hundred and thirty years is a long time.

That’s the age, more or less, of the automotive industry and naturally, its history is steep. Thousands of makes and models have come and gone over the decades, but only a few have really revolutionized the way auto manufacturers do business.

These are the vehicles that made everyone sit up and take notice. The ones that reshaped the North American automotive landscape.

Narrowing the field down to just one vehicle per decade was not easy. We focused on cars, trucks and SUVs that changed the industry specifically in North America, although that doesn’t mean it had to specifically be a North American vehicle. So, here are the 14 vehicles that changed the world and a few honorable mentions as well.

2012 Armada SL Audio Upgrade

I just got a new Murano and we also have the 2012 Armada SL. Love The Armada but comparing the technology in the Murano to what the Armada has is just embarrassing. I started looking and found you can swap the factory head unit on many vehicles for one like this: but I'm not sure if that's something that will fit on the Armada and how it will play with the controls. The screen on the Aramada displays the car info, climate controls, MPG, backup camera, so I'm not sure that can be replaced and the "radio" part does everything else.

Does anybody know or have an example of an Armada with an upgraded head unit? I'd like to be able to have all the basic functions work (backup camera, climate controls, steering wheel controls, car info, etc.) but I'd like to have some of the fancier features of a new head unit as well (Carplay, navigation, touch screen, bluetooth audio, etc.). Looking for any help, the Armada is really feeling dated with the technology, especially when looking at the newer tech out now.

Thanks!

Replaced Bearing now loud grinding squeal

Hello-

I just replaced all pads and rotors on my vehicle and then had a new wheel bearing installed. Ever since I had the wheel bearing installed, the vehicle makes a loud grinding/squealing sound when you first drive it. It seems to go away after 10 minutes or so, but when you first start it up after it has been sitting for a while, it starts up again. Also, I noticed the Brake, VDC and Slip light turned on, but were gone when I restarted the vehicle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Brakes - No Throttle

2013 Platinum with about 23,000 miles. When I press the brake pedal slightly while moving, the throttle pedal has no effect. As long as I hold my foot on the brake slightly I can floor the throttle with no increase in RPM. As soon as I remove pressure from the brake pedal the RPMs take off.

I'm sure there is a simple reason for this but can't find anything on the forum that describes these symptoms.

Rear air shock compressor.

i have a air shock compressor question. One of the air hoses for the rear shock came out. The whole connector came out with it. The one with the orange push and pull ring. I was able to put it back in and it stays and fills the shock but will not hold the air pressure. It now has a slow leak. Thinking there was a washer or something that came out with it. Is is possible to get a new connector or do I need a whole new compressor. Stealership said I needed new compressor for $450. Ouch! They said they don't have those parts. Any thought? Thanks

Do i need a differential drop for 2.5" lift?

$

I just bought a 2010 armada se 4wd with rear coils and decided to buy a 2.5" daystar spacer lift. In my 4 runner, i did bilstein 5100s up front (2.75") and a rear coil lift (2.5") and did not have to do any differential drop kit since it was under the 3" range that really puts stress on the joints.

So with the Armada, do i need to worry about a differential drop kit? or upper control arms? I wouldn't imagine 2.5" would stretch the rear brake lines either... But am I wrong? I have only crawled under it to verify that i do not have air suspension and not rust (literally bought it last night and it has 109k miles and rides extremely smooth so i don't feel it needs new shocks or springs).

And, I like the stock wheels and would like an offset and figured i would go with maybe some spacers rather than new wheels. Are the armada's hub centric?
