Replace Dead window motor.

My RR window got stuck in the up position. After going through the usual trouble-shooting steps, I determined that the regulator motor was dead. "How hard could it be?", said I. Thats what youtube and the forum is for.

Sure enough, a search revealed several videos and posts detailing the steps necessary. Without fail, everyone of them included a step whereby one must roll down the window to a certain point in order to unbolt the window from the regulator.

Seriously? OK. show of hands. Whats wrong with this picture? You there, in the back...

Doesn't it stand to reason, that if I could roll down the window, I wouldn't be replacing the motor??

So the REAL trick is, you need to unbolt the motor from the regulator gearbox by removing 3 10mm bolts, on the back-side of the motor. You have to feel around for them, but with a small 1/4 inch ratchet it can be done.

Then gently wiggle the regulator gearbox, off the motor axel. Be careful when pulling the gearbox off, lest its guts spill out and unwind the regulator cable. Now, unbolt the motor and pull 'er out.

Now take careful note of the axel position on the motor. You need to line up the new motor's axel to the same relative position. Reverse the process, and put everything back together. No need to unbolt or move the window at all, unless it happens to be stuck in the down position. In that case you need to reach in and get a wrench on the two bolts that hold the window in.
