Test drove 08' Mada, a few issues, are they a deal breaker

Hiho,

I test drove an 08' Armada with around 80,000 miles. The local independent mechanic I had look at it came up with 3 issues:

1. power steering rack leaking
2. brakes noisy
3. two new catalytic converters had been put on recently, the dealer stated they put them on.*

As for me when I drove the truck the acceleration seemed a little gravely, not rocks, gravel, just wasn't smooth beyond the awesome sound the Mada makes in general).

I was told the PS leak is about a $800-900 fix. Mechanic couldn't tell me what noisy brakes were about, my mechanic said something about the pads could be fine but the rotors weren't cut well?? Sorry can't remember his exact words. Both mechanics seemed curious as to why a truck this young and lower miles would need two catalytic converters replaced and were concerned that between that and the leak, this truck has issues now and could have them down the road. I took the advice of a member here and chose to open my search and budget to 08's because of the upgrades done to the model yet I'm finding this year truck has issues (used) as do 04-06s. It's been a challenge to find a used Armada in my budget that previous (owner(s)) took care of and maintained. I'm not giving up, just would appreciate feedback. I read somewhere the CCs could be damaged from a bad fuel pump and that engine damage could be a possibility down the line. I asked the local mechanic if this had to do with the Mada history of cracked exhaust manifolds but he told me they are two separate parts of exhaust system. Also they saw the CCs but didn't notice a power steering leak??

THANKS!!!

C.
:x
