Armada catalytic converter issues... anybody having them?

I have 120,000 on my 2006 Armada, failed emissions, mechanic just told me both catalytic converters are bad. He said called Nissan and was told the converter is part of the manifold so all parts will run me $900 each side. Total cost would be $1250 per side. Right now we reset the computer to see if I can get lucky and maybe just the one side is bad which is making a lot of noise which I was told is the catalytic converter.

He said he was shocked Nissan had this part in stock, told him must be common issue since all parts are expensive.

Anybody having this issue?

I did research and find that Nissan Altima's had similar issue and a RECALL was done on those, but my local Nissan dealer said Armada was not covered.
