I bought a replacement a/c condensor fan as I discovered mine was frozen solid. The new fan took a week to get here. All in all the truck has been down for about 2 weeks now. The fan finally showed up & I anxiously installed it only to discover the plug type was incorrect. I stupidly cut it off thinking I would just use butt connectors & splice the two together. I did a pre check to make sure the fan works before cutting off the factory connector. I jumped it using 2 wires. Blue to blue, black to black. Started the "diagnostic check" that forces the fan to come on... No go. Still get a click, click.
Stumped; I started it up, set all a/c to full blast, including the rear. Still no go. I watched the a/c compressor & now it won't lock up to compress anymore. I know for a fact that it was working before I started this entire mess.
Is it possible that since the fan is not connected that the a/c will not engage because it senses a failure or break in the chain per say? I hate to cut the factory connectors without fully knowing that the fan works first. I'm stumped. What should I do? I suppose I will try a few more tests in the morning. I'm REALLY tired of cramming my wife & 3 kids into my truck, getting dropped off at work & being stuck without a vehicle.
This sucks!
