steering switch cover fading

Soo I have read some posts on 2004 nissan armada 4x4 switch cover fading, but I dont know how easy it is to replace them by myself. I talked to dealership and they said you need to replace the whole steering column.

I found some links which are selling these parts but don't know if its easy and fixxable without risking anything?

I am in San diego and dont want to put alot of money on it of course. I can live with it, but thought of changing it if its a easy fix. Any suggestions?
