Hi Folks - I recently aquired a low mileage 07 LE that I adore, and I am in the process of slowly changing all the fluids and most all the normal wear items to "start fresh" since I plan to keep her for ther long haul.
After much debate, I recently had my stealership perform a BG "transmssion fluid exchange" (note how they are careful to call it an exchange, and not a flush). This was after my sharing and discussing the famous Nissan TSB looking memo with the dealer that discourges flushes (I think that put them on notice that I am an informed consumer - thanks to boards like this!).
I know there are lots of opinions out there from many good and informed folks on this and the Titan boards about the merits and dangers of a commercial flush versus a drain and fill (the drain and fill only changng a few quarts at a time), and when it should be donel I had this done by the dealer prior to 30K miles and I paid about $250 (I know, ouch!). This service uses BG sythnthetic fluid that supposedly surpasses matic S, it replaces all the fluid, including that in the torque converter, and the machine is only used for servicing nissan vehicles.
It has been about two weeks now, and so far I am impressed. Prior to the change the tranny actually shifted like butter, and you could hear the shift points clearly through the exhaust note changes. Now the shifts are all but imperceptable. I drive up a very steep parking garage incline at work, and after the change, I could tell there was actually more felt "power" with less gas pedal effort going up the incline. And strangely, I appear to be getting better mileage since the change (my mileage also increased a bit when I changed out the transfer case and diffs).
I'll post back again if I have ANY issues whatsoever with my tranny going forward. Right now, I plan to have this same serivce done again at about 60K or 70K.
I am thankful for all the knowledge I have been able to pick up here from the members and mods, so I wanted to share this (so far) positive experince to maybe start paying back in.
